As a Partnership Advisor for the United Nations, Alia Varsano helps advance humanitarian causes such as children's health, women's needs, population, the environment, peace initiatives, security, and human rights. Currently serving her third year with the UN, Alia Varsano develops international alliances with key individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations to further the objectives of the UN Fund for International Partnerships. Before becoming a UN Advisor, Alia Varsano worked as an executive for several global companies, including the famed New York auction house Phillips de Pury & Company. At Phillips de Pury & Company, Alia Varsano made a name for herself as Worldwide Director of Contemporary Jewelry and gained a reputation as an expert gemologist. Alia Varsano still shares her knowledge of gemology, and she was recently invited to be a guest on The Nate Berkus Show. During an October 2010 show, which aired on NBC, Alia Varsano joined the designer and host onstage to discuss the topic of cashing in gold jewelry.Alia Varsano left a successful career as a fashion model to enroll in Columbia Law School, where she excelled academically and won honors as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. After receiving her J.D., Alia Varsano went to work at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where she gained valuable experience in international law. Alia Varsano's business and legal talents helped her secure an executive position with Yorkshire Global Restaurants, and later, with the New York auction house Phillips de Pury & Company. As Worldwide Director for Contemporary Jewelry at the distinguished auction house, Alia Varsano was responsible for international legal and business dealings related to auctions and sales for her department. In addition to her humanitarian work for the United Nations, Alia Varsano supports Women for Women International, an organization that helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives.
